SHILLONG, Sep 5: The Jaintia Student’s Union (JSU) on Tuesday asked Health Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh to nullify the MBBS seat allotted to one candidate who allegedly is not a permanent resident of the state.
This comes amidst KSU also pushing for the revivification of submitted documents by the students who secured a MBBS seat in the open category.
In a letter to the Health minister, JSU general secretary TR Suchen urged the state government to cancel the state quota seat of the candidate as he is seemingly not a permanent resident of Meghalaya and does not belong to the Thangskai village in East Jaintia Hills. “We have also consulted with the Headman of the Thangskai village, who told us that the qualified candidate is only a temporary resident of the village and that the certificate issued to him is valid only for six months. KSU claims one MBBS candidature…
(Contd from P-1) He has the certificate as one of his parents is an employee in a Cement company located near the village,” the JSU said.
The JSU has asked the minister to allot the seat to a permanent resident of the state.
“We also urge the authority to cross check all the documents of the candidates so that no one can forge and submit an unauthorised or invalid document of their address and tribal certificate proof. We anticipate your swift and action and cooperation,” the letter added.
