SHILLONG, Sep 6: The demand for the ouster of Meghalaya BJP president, Ernest Mawrie seems to be gathering steam with senior party leader and Cabinet minister, AL Hek revealing that he has received complaints against the party chief’s dictatorial attitude.
Disclosing that former BJP leader, HM Shangpliang had met him before submitting his resignation, citing the dictatorial style and functioning of the BJP state president, Hek said a group of Mahila BJP members had also levelled similar complaints against Mawrie.
Hek said Shangpliang was adamant on quitting the party even after he was told that apart from Mawrie, there are other party  leaders who are ready to work together.
Hek also stated that some BJP Mahila members had met him earlier in the day with similar complaints. “They are also saying the same story about the dictatorial behaviour of the state president. I cannot say whether they are telling the fact or cooking up a story but I am just telling you whatever they have said.”
Asked if corrective steps would be taken, he said the party will ensure that no more leaders leave the party. “Being responsible leaders of the BJP, we have to meet the leadership and take corrective steps.”
On Mawrie’s tenure as the state chief, he said, “That is due to change, but the call has to be taken by the central leadership.”
