SHILLONG, Sep 6: As part of the “Khelo India Women’s League” which is to be conducted in 25 cities of India. TheMeghalaya Athletics Association will be organizing the 3K and 5K Road Run for Women only on 21st September 2023, 7AM at the SAI, STC, NEHU Campus.One can register their name name at theMeghalaya State Olympic Association (MSOA) Office or WhatsApp the following 9856041365, 9233072206 giving one’s name address and age. Cash prizes of 500/-, 1500/- and 1000/- will be awarded andcertificates and medals from Athletic Federation of India will be given.Last date of registration will be on the 18th of September 2023, a statement realsed here by the association said.

PYEONGCHANG, Sep 6: The Indian men’s table tennis team signed off with a bronze medal after going down 0-3 to Chinese Taipei in the Asian Championships semifinal here on Wednesday.In a disappointing display, both veteran Sharath Kamal and the experienced G Sathiyan surrendered meekly to their higher-ranked opponents while Harmeet Desai showed the stomach for a fight.Sharath was handed a 6-11, 6-11, 9-11 defeat by Chuang Chih-Yuan, ranked 26th, while Sathiyan went down 5-11, 6-11, 10-12 to world number 7 Lin Yun-Ju as the third-seeded Indian team trailed 0-2.Playing to stay alive in the tie, Harmeet, the country’s highest-ranked player at 63, gave India some hope as he took a game off Kao Cheng-Jui. Man Utd say they are taking Antony allegations seriously
MANCHESTER, Sep 6: Manchester United spoke about the allegations of domestic abuse made against Brazil international Antony for the first time on Wednesday, saying it was taking the matter seriously.The Premier League club did not say whether the forward would be available for selection after he was dropped from his country’s two upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers.“Manchester United acknowledges the allegations made against Antony and notes that the police are conducting enquiries,” the club said.“As a club, we are taking this matter seriously, with consideration of the impact of these allegations and subsequent reporting will have on survivors of abuse.” On Monday, Brazilian media published details of alleged domestic abuse by Antony against his ex-girlfriend.The Brazilian football confederation said Antony would not be part of the team for games against Bolivia and Peru “due to the facts that became public on Monday.” United had come under pressure for not commenting sooner, while Antony posted a statement on Instagram before being cut from Brazil’s squad, saying: “I vehemently deny the accusations.” Sao Paulo police confirmed that an investigation is ongoing, but did not provide details. Campaign group End Violence Against Women Coalition called for action after the allegations against Antony came to light. (PTI)
