Shillong, September 10: Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, portraying the love interest of Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s transgender character in the crime drama ‘Haddi,’ shared insights into his role, highlighting the film’s core message of genuine love transcending gender boundaries.

As per IANS, directed by Akshat Ajay Sharma, ‘Haddi’ features Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Anurag Kashyap, and Zeeshan in pivotal roles. Nawazuddin portrays the character of Haddi/Harika, while Zeeshan assumes the role of Irfan.

In a conversation with IANS, Zeeshan reflected on the mental and emotional aspects of portraying such characters.

“I don’t believe there is a significant toll on you. Some aspects of the character linger with you. It’s a give and take situation. It’s not an intense character but a gentle and kind one. We aimed to preserve that tenderness in their relationship,” he explained.

“Romance should not be labeled as special; it’s just love. Anyone can love anyone, irrespective of their gender or preferences. Love is pure. That was the fundamental idea we wanted to convey, and we worked towards it,” shared the actor known for his role in ‘Tandav.’

When asked if he had any reservations about the role, Zeeshan stated, “There were no apprehensions, but it was an exciting part. It took some time to say yes, but for different reasons. It took about two months due to scheduling conflicts. Eventually, everything was resolved, and it came to fruition.”

Produced by Zee Studios and Anandita Studios, the film features Nawazuddin Siddiqui in a double role, including that of a transgender character. The cast also includes Ila Arun, Saurabh Sachdeva, Rajesh Kumar, and Ivanka Das in significant roles. ‘Haddi’ is available for streaming on Zee5.

On the professional front, Zeeshan’s recent appearance was in ‘Scoop,’ where he portrayed the character of Imran Siddiqui. The show features Karishma Tanna, Harman Baweja, and Prosenjit Chatterjee.
