SHILLONG, Sep 11: Health Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh, who visited the under construction 50-bedded AYUSH hospital in Sohra, East Khasi Hills, on Monday, said that the facility will prove to be a boon for Sohra.
The project is funded under Centre’s AYUSH Mission at the cost of Rs 10.55 crore.
90% of the project, which was initiated in the year 2016-17, is complete, while the civil work will be completed after monsoon. The 50-bedded hospital is likely to be completed by the end of October 2023.
The Health minister said that the hospital will provide a fillip to the state’s health sector while catering to the populace of Sohra region, once operationalised.
In addition, the facility also has spacious accommodations for AYUSH physicians and class IV employees.
The minister reviewed the timeline to make the hospital operational with the Health department officials.
On the other hand, it was informed that recruitment for AYUSH Physicians will be taken up by the District AYUSH Society by the end of this month. The process for procurement of equipment is also in the offing.
The minister would soon have a meeting with PWD (Roads) Minister Prestone Tyngsong for the re-development and construction of around 2-km stretch of road leading to the facility.
Later, she also visited Sohra Community Health Centre and was satisfied to observe the expansion of the CHC at the location.
Lyngdoh lauded the efforts of the CHC team in ensuring clean, efficient and adequate services.
The minister also visited the Ram Krishna Mission Hospital.
The hospital is preparing a 30-bedded facility to further improve its services, especially in critical areas like Dialysis, OT facilities and laboratory testing among others.
