Review meeting for 2nd Sohra half Marathon held

SHILLONG, Sep 11: A review meeting chaired by Mrs J Umdor, EAC, Sohra Civil Sub-Division, was held in the conference hall of SDO(Civil) Sohra Civil Sub-Division today at 11.30Am on 11 September 2023 with representatives John F Kharshiing from Meghalaya State Olympic Association (MSOA), and Finely L Pariat, General Secretary, MSOA & Meghalaya Athletic Association (MAA) addressing the meeting along with all the village heads representing the Sohra International half Marathon route (Laitsohpliah to Mawsmai 21km) was held today in Sohra.
The meeting was also attended by PWD, Health, Education, Tourism, Heads of Educational Institutions Principals and other officials.
This is the 3rd meeting conducted by the organising committee and the office of the SDO (Civil) Sohra to review the preparations for the prestigious 2nd Sohra International half Marathon 2023 to be held on 30 Sept 2023 which is officially approved and supervised by the Athletics Federation of India.
A detailed discussion was held as to the closure of traffic for 3hours along the route from 6Am to 9AM on 30th September 2023. A decision was made to circulate information to all stakeholders especially from the tourism sector as to this 3hours closure so as to not create any inconvenience to the tourist travellers and those in emergency.
With the successful completion of the 1st Edition in 2022, and in according to the public craze and excitement, it is expected that there is likely to be an increase in participation by athletes from all over for this 2nd edition.
