Shillong, September 14: Excitement builds as the forthcoming film ‘Chhava,’ featuring Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandana, prepares to commence principal photography next month.

This period drama will showcase Vicky in the role of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the eldest son of the Maratha empire’s founder, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, a legendary warrior king.

While the film primarily delves into Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj’s heroic sacrifices and strategic warfare, it also weaves a tale of love between him and his wife, Yesubai Bhonsale, portrayed by Rashmika.

A source shared with IANS, “After a brief delay, ‘Chhava’ is all set to kick off production in October. Rashmika was the natural choice for the role and was finalized after a successful look test.”

‘Chhava’ marks the second collaboration between Vicky and director Laxman Utekar, following the success of ‘Zara Hatke Zara Bachke.’ This film is a significant milestone for Maddock Films as their first venture into historical cinema.

While Vicky Kaushal has ‘The Great Indian Family’ on the horizon, Rashmika’s recent appearance was in ‘Mission Majnu,’ alongside Sidharth Malhotra.
