Shillong, September 17: Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, expressed his delight at India’s rising global prominence, as evident in the recently concluded G20 summit, and extended birthday wishes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his 73rd birthday.

As per IANS, the Dalai Lama’s message read, “On this occasion, I would like to congratulate you on the success of India’s G20 presidency, culminating in the summit focused on the theme of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ – ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future.’

“This theme deeply resonates with me as I firmly believe in the unity of humanity and promote this message whenever possible.

“As someone who has had the privilege of residing in India for an extended period, I take great pride in witnessing India’s growing influence on the global stage, as exemplified by events like the G20 summit. This meeting provided an excellent opportunity to emphasize the interconnectedness of our shared world” he said.

“India’s ancient traditions of non-violence (ahimsa) and compassion (karuna) have a history spanning over a thousand years. As the world’s largest democracy and most populous nation, with a rich legacy of inter-religious harmony, India sets a noteworthy example” he added.

The Dalai Lama concluded his letter with prayers and best wishes for the Prime Minister’s “continued good health and success in fulfilling the hopes and aspirations of the people of this great country, and in contributing to the creation of a more compassionate, peaceful world.”
