SHILLONG, Sep 19: Congress MLA from Umsning, Dr Celestine Lyngdoh has expressed concern over the prolonged delay in completion of the building of Patharkhmah Civil Sub Division.
Raising this issue during the Question Hour of the Assembly on Tuesday, Lyngdoh told the House that not a single pillar has been constructed despite the land being donated 15 years ago when Patharkhmah was still an administrative unit.
It may be mentioned that Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma had inaugurated the Patharkhmah Civil Sub Division in December last year.
According to Lyngdoh, the size of the land (11.864 acres) which was donated to the government is reducing due to encroachment.
“I would like to impress upon the government to erect the pillars. If not, fencing at the earliest,” he appealed.
The Umsning MLA also pointed out that officers and staff of the civil sub division attend office only twice a week.
Responding to the Umsning MLA, GAD Minister Rakkam A Sangma said that a proposal for construction of the building and fencing has been initiated.
“At the moment, the civil sub division office is functioning temporarily from the office of the SDO, PHE,” he said.
