Shillong, Sep 19: In a shocker, a newborn baby was recovered from a garbage truck at Mawpat on Tuesday.
The infant was discovered in the garbage truck by the driver and helper when they were sorting the garbage which they had collected from the residents.
They immediately alerted police who shifted the newborn to NEIGRIHMS.
On learning of the incident, the Mawpat Dorbar immediately convened a meeting to discuss the issue.
“We will conduct an inquiry by calling all the families residing in the locality to find out who dumped the newborn in the garbage truck,” said Rangbah Shnong of Mawpat, JM Wahlang.
