SHILLONG, Sep 20: The Assembly witnessed a heated debate on Wednesday over the issue of police brutality at Thangskai village in East Jaintia Hills when VPP’s Adelbert Nongrum played a clipping containing some expletives.
Before playing the clipping, Nongrum said he was bringing evidence as demanded by Prestone Tynsong who is an expert in asking for expunges.
However, when Nongrum played the clipping, Tynsong asked him to follow the rules and procedures while substantiating his claims.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma intervened and said the member was making a mockery of the proceedings.
During the discussion on Tuesday, Nongrum had claimed that the East Jaintia Hills SP had used expletives during the breakdown of law and order on that day.
However, Tynsong intervened and asked Nongrum to substantiate his allegations while urging the Speaker to expunge a portion of the latter’s speech.
