Tura, Sep 21: The Meghalaya High Court has directed the government to ensure that hospitals and other emergency facilities are not disrupted even for a minute due to the lack of power supply.

The direction came in the form of a Judgement to a petition filed by social activist Flaming B Marak on the rampant load shedding that was resorted to by the power department in the state during the early part of this year’s summer. The Judgement was given on Wednesday by Chief Justice Sanjib Benerjee along with Justice B Banerjee.

The Judgement observed that since the power situation has improved and several steps initiated to augment power supply, the immediate grievances of the petitioner seem to have been addressed. However, the court repeated an earlier direction that was issued and directed that power supply is not disrupted in hospitals and other emergency facilities in future.
