Shillong, September 21: In response to the recent tragic incident related to ragging resulting in the death of a fresher at Kolkata’s Jadavpur University (JU) main student hostel, authorities have introduced entry restrictions across all student hostels under their jurisdiction.

According to an official notification from JU, the main entrance gates of all university hostels will close at 10 p.m. and remain shut until 6 a.m. the following day. This measure aims to prevent unauthorized entry and exit, including former students.

As per IANS, hostel residents are advised in the notice to enter the hostel premises by 10 p.m. daily. If they intend to stay outside the hostel overnight, they must notify the hostel superintendent in advance.

Additionally, students are required to carry their identity cards at all times and present them when requested by administrative staff or officials. They must also log their entries and exits each time they access the hostel.

Stringent restrictions have been imposed on visitor movement within the hostel premises. Visitors are confined to designated areas within the hostels and must carry their identity documents, which will be recorded in visitor logs.
