Body found in pool of blood at Laitkor; 2 held over ‘murder’

SHILLONG, Sep 21: Suspicion of murder ran rife as the police found a body lying in a pool of blood at Laitkor.
The body was found within the compound of a vehicle workshop belonging to Farid Mukhim at Laitkor Mawrie, Lumheh, on Tuesday.
On careful observation, police found that the person had injury marks on his head.
On suspicion of murder, the Crime Scene Unit Team was informed so as to obtain clues and evidences from the place of occurrence, police said.
“A steering wheel which is suspected to have been used for committing the offence and a mineral water bottle with half a bottle of liquor were seized from the spot,” the Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills, said in a statement issued here on Thursday.
In the morning of Wednesday, the body was shifted to NEIGRIHMS Hospital.
The relatives of the deceased arrived and identified him as William Nongrum (36), a resident of Khanduli. After observing all legal formalities, the dead body was handed over to the relatives. In this connection, a case has been registered with Madanrting Police Station, and two accused have been arrested within 48 hours of commission of the crime.
