Solidarity
The Meghalaya People United Front (MPUF) East Jaintia Hills has decided to extend support to the Khasi Student Union (KSU) East Jaintia Hills District Unit in its protest over the deteriorating condition of National Highway 6 on Monday. The KSU members will gather and lie on NH-6 as a mark of protest against reluctance in executing repair work of the deplorable highway. The union has sought the intervention of Khliehriat MLA Kyrmen Shylla in the matter.

 

Donation
Meghalika Mahila Samiti, POWERGRID Shillong, has donated essential commodities to senior residents of Shanti Bhawan old-age home and orphans in Hindu Mission, Shillong, as part of the social service initiative of the Samiti. Trishna Kataki, patron of the Samiti, and other senior members were present during the service.

 

Prohibition
The District Magistrate of East Jaintia Hills in an order issued under Section 144 CrPC, has prohibited overloading of vehicles with transportation having to be strictly in accordance with the authorised capacity of the concerned vehicle. According to the prohibitory order, transportation of stones or boulders by any vehicle should not exceed the height of the vehicle’s body. Transporters must ensure that no stone or boulder is dropped during transportation.
