SHILLONG, Sep 21: The Voice of the People Party (VPP), which has made its name known across the Khasi Hills region, is now making inroads into Garo Hills.
“We are meeting people and the feedback is very good as they have started seeing the VPP as the alternative regional party in the state,” VPP president Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit said on Thursday.
With regard to the upcoming KHADC elections, Ardent said that the party will field candidates in all 30 seats. He added that the party is examining the possibility of fielding candidates in all JHADC seats. “When we formed the party, we told the people clearly that we will not be a party to contest elections only. We will be a party which will work throughout and we are proactively raising issues concerning the state in the (assembly) session,” he said.
