First edition of Inter Mahari football tourney begins

TURA, Sep 22: The much awaited 1st edition of the Inter Mahari Football Tournament was kicked off on September 22nd at Ampati student’s field amidst much fanfare as supporters and spectators braved heavy downpour to cheer for their favorite teams. Organized by the District Sports Office in collaboration with the District Administration the tourney is the first of its kind in the district.
The tournament has seen an overwhelming support by the citizens of the district as can be seen with the participation of 38 Maharis (Clans/Sub clans) vying for the coveted victors trophy. The tournament’s first round will conclude on September 25th followed by the 2nd round which will start from September 26th and end on October 6th.
This will be followed by the Pre Quarter final from October 6th which will conclude on October 10th giving way for the Quarter finals which will be played from October 10th to October 13th. This will be followed by Semi finals from October 14th to October 16th. The finals will be notified later.
Kicking off the tourney GHADC, MDC, Boldamgre constituency, who is also the Executive Member, Games & Sports, Stevie M Marak congratulated the organizers for organizing the tourney and stated that it was a great opportunity for people to meet, strengthen and renew ties and create new ones. Wishing the best to all the participating teams the MDC announced that he would be donating rupees fifty thousand to the tournament.
The first match of the tourney was an exciting one played between Rangsha FC and Gara FC where the former beat the latter 1-0.
