Shillong, September 25: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has filed a case against former state finance minister and BJP leader Manpreet Singh Badal and five others for alleged irregularities in a property purchase in Bathinda, according to officials on Monday.

Apart from Manpreet, who had previously been associated with the Congress, the individuals named in the case are former Bathinda municipal corporation commissioner Bikramjit Shergill, Rajiv Kumar, Amandeep Singh, Vikas Arora, and Pankaj.

As per IANS, Rajiv Kumar and Amandeep Singh have been apprehended in connection with the case, as stated by officials.

The complaint was initiated by former MLA Sarup Chand Singla in 2021, prompting the bureau to launch an investigation and subsequently file charges.

Manpreet has sought pre-arrest bail through an application in the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Ram Kumar Singla in Bathinda. The court has scheduled a hearing on September 26 for this matter.
