SHILLONG, Sep 24: The Voice of the People Party (VPP) has reiterated its stand of not being a part of any opposition alliance but maintained that the party is ready to coordinate with others on issues concerning the state and the people.
“We don’t want to be a part of any alliance of the opposition because once you are in and alliance, you have to respect the decision of the alliance partners…there may be a situation where we might clash on certain issues,” VPP supremo, Ardent M Basaiawmoit said on Sunday.
He said the VPP is ready to collaborate on issues concerning the state but would retain its own identity.
Reacting to Congress Legislature Party leader Ronnie V Lyngdoh’s statement that the VPP, like any other regional party, will die its natural death, Basaiawmoit said, “Only time will tell. The people are very much aware of what we are doing and there is a complete difference. You cannot compare VPP with any other regional political party in the state.”
