Dahal in China for Business Summit
Kathmandu, Sep 24: Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ on Sunday arrived in Beijing to attend the Nepal-China Business Summit. After arriving here, he attended the opening of 19th Asian Games. He is scheduled to address the Nepal-China Business Summit later in the day. More than 100 industrialists are expected to take part in the summit, organised by Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), The Himalyan Times reported. Nepal’s ambassador to China Bishnu Pukar Shrestha will host a dinner in honour of Dahal and the Nepali entourage today. On Saturday, Dahal held a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping during which he told the latter that Nepal supports a series of important concepts and initiatives proposed by China. Prachanda is on a week-long visit to China, beginning September 23, during which he is scheduled to hold bilateral meeting with his Chinese counterpart Li Qiang. (IANS)

FMs discuss ties
Tehran, Sep 24: Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and his Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud met in New York on the sidelines of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly to discuss bilateral ties and regional developments. The Ministers expressed satisfaction with the reopening of embassies in Tehran and Riyadh and the arrival of ambassadors in both countries, said a statement from the Iranian Foreign Ministry on Saturday. They also agreed to speed up the formation of a joint economic cooperation commission and coordination committee, launch air and maritime transportation lines, improve consular services, and promote sports cooperation, it added. Amir-Abdollahian said Iran is ready to draft and sign a document on bilateral comprehensive cooperation based on an idea put forward in his meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud in August. He also stressed the need to expand bilateral relations, especially in the fields of economy, trade, joint economic cooperation. Xinhua news agency reported that the Saudi Foreign Minister expressed satisfaction with the pace of progress in bilateral relations since the announcement of the resumption of ties in April. (IANS)
Death toll in Taiwan factory fire rises to 10
Taipei (Taiwan), Sep 24: Search teams found the bodies of the last three missing people on Sunday at the site of a golf ball factory fire in southern Taiwan, bringing the death toll to 10, according to Taiwanese media reports. Launch Technologies, the operator of the plant, is a major global supplier of golf balls. Four of the victims were firefighters. Taiwan’s Central News Agency, quoting a Pingtung County fire official, said an explosion caused part of the building to collapse about 6:10 pm on Friday, trapping firefighters and workers under rubble. Second explosion followed 20 minutes later. Two bodies were found on Sunday morning and the final one was recovered in the afternoon. (AP)
