Shillong, September 27: In a distressing incident in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, a 12-year-old girl was found semi-naked and bleeding on the streets. She had been a victim of rape and was abandoned near the city’s Dandi Ashram.

As per India Today, caught on CCTV, the footage shows the young girl walking through a residential area with only a rag barely covering her. Desperate for help, she approaches a man standing outside his home, but her plea is met with indifference as he shoos her away.

The minor was admitted to a hospital in critical condition and later referred to Indore for specialized treatment. Senior police official Sachin Sharma confirmed the rape through a medical examination and stated that a case had been registered. A special investigation team (SIT) was swiftly formed to identify and apprehend the culprits.

Though the girl couldn’t provide her exact origin, her accent suggests she may be from Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.

The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has taken action, issuing a notice to Ujjain Police regarding the rape of the minor. They have requested details of the initial police report and urged compliance with the guidelines outlined in the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

NCPCR chairperson Priyank Kanoongo expressed deep concern over the fact that nobody came to the minor’s aid for hours, shedding light on a darker aspect of society.
