Community sensitization on childhood development held in SGH

Tura, Sep 27: A Community Sensitization Programme on Meghalaya Early Childhood Development was organised on Wednesday at the Don Bosco Higher Secondary School Hall Baghmara in South Garo Hills.

During the programme Baghmara BDO, J.N.Sangma in his welcome and introductory address informed the gathering about the basic ideas of Government initiatives on Meghalaya Early Childhood Mission. He also stated that this Mission will focus mainly on mother and women, children and youth all together.
Project Director DRDA P.R.Marak also highlighted on the importance of ECD Mission and said that this will cater to those  villages or children which are not being covered by ICDS programme adding this would improve the developmental indicators of the state in the long run. This is an integrated approach which will not only lead to a holistic Development of children but also on parents, he said.
It may be mentioned that the state ECD Mission is a collaborative  approach between the Social Welfare,  Community and Rural Development,  Education, Health and Family Welfare Department and others to monitor ECD Services and growth Monitoring for the successful implementation and community involvement.
The program was also attended by G.M.Nengmong Social Welfare Consultant,  Poshan Abhiyan,  B Ch Momin District Coordinator Poshan Abhiyan, CDPO, DSEO Health Officer and others.
