Landslide engulfs car on Ri-Bhoi road; traffic hit

NONGPOH, Sep 26: In an incident which occurred at Patharkhamah on Tuesday, a van with registration number AS 01 BP 2426 sustained severe damages after being buried under debris from a massive landslide on the Patharkhmah road in Ri-Bhoi.
According to sources, the incident occurred at approximately 3 pm evening during heavy rainfall.
The vehicle was parked by the roadside when the landslide struck. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported, although the vehicle suffered extensive damage as it became engulfed by the debris.
This incident has led to significant traffic disruptions, and both local residents and police personnel were actively engaged in the process of clearing the road, at the time of filing of this report. Earth debris and fallen trees resulting from the landslide were being removed to restore normal traffic flow.
