TURA/SHILLONG, Sep 27: The 10-day Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC-72), organsied by 61 Meghalaya Girls Bn NCC, at 58 GTC, Happy Valley, Shillong, came to a close on Wednesday with pomp and show.
In Tura, West Garo Hills, the CATC-63 too concluded on Wednesday with a cultural performance put up by the cadets, at ISBT, Tura.
During the 10-day stay at 58 GTC, the cadets were made to live the regimental way of life while also experiencing physical training, drill, weapon training, map reading, field craft/battle craft, personality development, first aid lectures. Guest lectures on ‘Avenues of Tourism’, ‘Recruitment in the Police Department and Crime against Women’, and ‘Adventure Sports’ were also conducted. Cadets also experience the Maneksha Museum, Sand Model Display, War Museum and Artificial Wall Climbing at the 58 GTC, Happy Valley.
Firing practice was also organised for the cadets with the aim of identifying the potential firers. Debate, extempore speech, foot/arm drill, firing, singing and dancing competitions besides games such as volley ball and Tug of War were held at the camp.
In Tura, the cadets were put through a series of lectures on varied topics, demonstrations and hands-on drills covering a wide spectrum.
The trainees also visited the Kilapara War Memorial at Border Outpost of BSF at Dalu and witnessed the weapon display.
A personality development workshop was conducted by the accomplished NCC alumni and the cadets also got the chance to participate in cleaning the banks of river Bughai as part of social service and community development activity.
