Tura, Sep 29: The All Garo Hills Aganwadi Workers and Helpers Association recently met Tura MP Agatha K Sangma seeking her intervention in their prolonged demands.

The association among others raised the issue of enhancement of honorarium, provision of quality smartphones, Reservation of posts for Lady Supervisor etc.

“We urged the upgradation of the senior and experienced Anganwadhi workers to the post of lady Supervisor and to reserve atleast 50% of the new posts of Lady Supervisor to the regular senior Anganwadi workers irrespective of Graduation/educational qualifications,” the association said.

Meanwhile, the association also pointed out that they are given extra burden by loading Health programmes like Polio immunization, survey on TB etc.

“The ASHA workers are paid Rs 100/- a day and Anganwadhi workers are paid Rs 75/- a day for Polio duty. So, we demand for equal pay to equal work,” they sought.
