BSF organises ‘Amrit
Kalash Yatra’
SHILLONG, Sep 29: ‘Amrit Kalash Yatra’ under the Meri Mati Mera Desh campaign was organised by the BSF Meghalaya in the villages along the international border on Thursday. During the Amrit Kalash Yatra, soil was collected from the bordering villages of Lyngkhat, Pyrdwah, Umsyiem, Dawki, Kongwang etc. in East Khasi Hills and West Jaintia Hills districts. The villagers enthusiastically participated in the event, displaying their patriotic fervor. ‘Amrit Kalash Yatra’ is a heartfelt tribute to the sacrifices made by the valiant soldiers and citizens who have contributed to India’s independence and security.

 

Senior Citizens Day in Baghmara
TURA, Sep 29: Senior Citizens Day was observed at Rangku Memorial Girls Secondary School Baghmara, on Friday. The programme was organised by the District Legal Services Authority Baghmara under the Aiges of NALSA Meghalaya. D S Marbaniang, Chief Judicial Magistrate cum Member Secretary DLSA while informing the gathering about the importance of taking care and giving due respect to elderly people, said that we all will become old one day therefore we should love and respect our senior citizens stating that various Acts with regards to maintenance and welfare of older persons has already been amended by the government.

 

Foundation stone laid for
Golden Jubilee girls’ hostel
Jowai, Sep 29: As part of the commemoration of the 107th birth anniversary of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay, NEHU Vice Chancellor Prabha Shankar Shukla on Wednesday laid the foundation stone for the ‘Golden Jubilee Girls Hostel’ at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Community College for Skill Development (DDUCC) at Wahiajer in West Jaintia Hills. It may be mentioned that the land for the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Community for Skill Development was donated by the Dorbar Shnong of Wahiajer which covers 17.9 acres and construction for ‘Golden Jubilee Girls Hostel, was sanctioned at a cost of Rs 7 crores.

 

Phase-II of Tribal Artisans Empanelment Mela in Ampati
Ampati, Sep 29: The Ministry of Tribal Affairs, as part of its ‘Marketing and Logistics Support to promotion of Tribal products in Northeastern Region (PTP-NER Scheme),’ has announced that the second phase of the Tribal Artisans Empanelment Mela (TAeMs) will be held in Ampati on October 6. Tribal artisans from South West Garo Hills are encouraged to participate in the event and to bring samples of their unique products and produce for display along with mandatory documents which must include, photocopies of AADHAR Card, Bank Passbook, ST certificates and two passport size photographs, a statement here said.
