3-yr-old drowns in water storage

Mawkyrwat, Sep 30: Another tragedy struck South West Khasi Hills district after a 3-year-old baby boy drowned in a water storage (brite) at Marshillong, near Mawkyrwat on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Mebanshan Thongni.
According to the police, the 3-year-old was playing outside the house as his mother was inside washing utensil and the father went to wash clothes.
Later, the mother called him, when she did not receive any response from the little boy, she went outside looking for him only to find her son drowned in the 60 litres water storage.
He was immediately rushed to the community health centre but was declared brought dead.
‘The father of the deceased has ruled out any foul play into the incident and hence it is purely a drowning case’.
Exemption for post mortem was granted and the body was handed over to the family.
