Cleaning drive conducted in Umsyrpi river

SHILLONG, Sep 30: In a bid to breathe new life into the Umsyrpi river, the YesEarth Youth Corps in association with Rotary Club Shillong Heritage, National Cadet Corps, Rotary District 3240 and Shillong Municipal Board took to cleaning the polluted river, on Saturday.
The cleaning drive was flagged by East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner RM Kurbah.
Meanwhile, the Shillong Cantonment Board is organising a cleaning drive on Sunday on the theme ‘Ek Tarikh Ek Ghanta’ with public volunteers, organisation contributing at least one hour of shramdaan for visible cleanliness at various places of the Cantonment area.
This cleaning drive will be done as a part of Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign.
