Shillong, October 2: In a heart-wrenching incident, the dead bodies of three young sisters were discovered concealed in a trunk in a village close to Jalandhar city in Punjab on Monday.

As per IANS, authorities suspect that the children, aged between four and nine, may have been victims of a homicide committed by their father, a migrant laborer who reported their disappearance to the police on Sunday night.

This disturbing occurrence took place in Kanpur village, falling within the jurisdiction of the Maqsudan police station.

The homeowner informed the police that the suspected murderer had a history of alcoholism and had been instructed to vacate the rented residence.

Neighbours made the gruesome discovery when they opened the trunk inside the house. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, and the police have detained the husband and wife for questioning.
