SHILLONG, Oct 1: The UDP camp is facing a dilemma over choosing its candidate for the Lok Sabha polls from the Shillong seat since it has a lot of options.
UDP general secretary Jemino Mawthoh, however, does not see this as a problem. “Plenty is not a problem. If there is no candidate that is a problem, but when we have plenty means we have options and depending on the collective wisdom of the party, the UDP will decide the best option,” Mawthoh said.
He was confident about the party’s prospect in the Lok Sabha polls.
“We are the oldest as well as the biggest regional party in the state with strong foothold in Khasi-Jaintia Hills. Any candidate we put up will be a strong contender,” he said.
He said the UDP will seek the support of regional parties like the HSPDP and plan the best strategy and approach for the elections.
