Nongpoh, Oct 3: The Primal Foundation, in collaboration with the Dorbar Shnong of Nartap village celebrated Daan Utsav – also known as the festival of giving to commemorate Gandhiji’s birthday by distributing books to establish a community library in the village, on Tuesday.
The event witnessed the generous contribution of books from NGOs such as Goonj, Kankhu Education and Charitable Trust and Parimal Foundation.
The initiative represents a significant step towards nurturing a culture of learning and knowledge sharing within the community.
The programme was attended by the villagers, local authorities and representatives from the collaborating NGOs.
Notably, Education for All is a partner of NITI Aayog’s Asparitional District Programme, working in 112 Aspirational Districts, with the aim of building a platform for hyper-local solutions.
The Primal Foundation and the Dorbar Shnong Nartap jointly envisioned the establishment of a community library to grant access to knowledge and information for all age groups.
The initiative ensures that education is not limited solely to children.
Ioanis Kurbah, a local teacher, emphasised the importance of knowledge accessibility for all, stating that once the library is set up, even nearby villages will have access to it.
