TURA, Oct 4: Chokpot stone quarry owner, Alpha D Marak on Wednesday said that the recent FIR against him alleging that he forged the signature of the Budugre Nokma as well as his seal to misuse the same for his own benefit, was uncalled for and false, even as he maintained that the NOC was issued by the Nokma himself in October 2018.
Earlier, the Nokma of Budugre, Analson R Sangma had filed the FIR against Marask and made the allegations.
“I have been granted a Mining Lease under the Meghalaya Minor Mineral Concession Rule, 2016 vide letter No.SGH/SF&T/Min Lease/150/1/2032 dt.19-02-2021 for mining of boulder-stones after obtaining all the requisite clearances/NOC(s) from all the Authorities and Departments concerned including the NOC of the Nokma of Budugre village and therefore, the allegation of illegally carrying out with the mining of stone quarry is completely misinformed and does not hold any ground,” the quarry owner claimed.
With regard to the allegation that a forged Nokma Document was used to obtain the Land Patta, Marak said that the witnesses were the ‘Chra(s)’ or the primary clan members of the Cheran mahari, who could be reached out to ascertain the facts.
