NGO helps renovate schools in Ri-Bhoi

NONGPOH, Oct 5: Eight schools under Umsning block were renovated and supported with furniture, sports material, library and smart class.
A Delhi based NGO with its regional office at Nongpoh, Society for Action in Community Health (SACH), with help of the CSR arm of HDFC bank is implementing a Holistic Rural Development Programme (HRDP) in 15 villages of Umsing block. Education, health, sanitation, livelihood, renewable energy, household toilet construction, setting up of drinking water post in public places, setting up of washing platform cum bathing enclosure for the community, renovation and repair of ICDS in villages, construction of irrigation canal for supply of water to paddy fields for the enhancement of income of farmers are some of the interventions of the NGO in the region.
The repaired and renovated schools were handed over to the school management in a Hangding Over Programme of School at Umdiker village on Wednesday.
