BSF prevents smuggling bid, seizes medicines, apparels in EJH

SHILLONG, Oct 7: BSF troops on Friday sized medicines and sarees worth over Rs 17 lakh while they were being smuggled to Bangladesh through the border in East Jaintia Hills.
Acting on specific information, vigilant troops of 172 Battalion BSF carried out an operation in the bordering area of Hangaria in East Jaintia Hills.
During the operation, the BSF troopers seized medicines that had been dumped near the international border, meant to be smuggled to neighbouring Bangladesh. They also managed to seize sarees while the consignment was being smuggled through the international border.
The seized items were handed over to the concerned Customs office for further necessary action.
In another operation, troops of the 4 Battalion BSF Meghalaya seized sarees in the bordering area of East Khasi Hills, preventing another smuggling bid.
