LA28 recommends Cricket for 2028 Olympic sport programme

Los Angeles, Oct 10: After the enthralling tennis action by the senior stars, the 28th Cricket set to be included in the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles as the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games on Monday shared its official proposal for new Olympic sports, including Baseball/Softball, Flag Football, Lacrosse (Sixes) and Squash, to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for potential inclusion in the 2028 Olympic sports program.The International Cricket Council (ICC) is delighted at the decision of the organisers of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics to recommend cricket for inclusion at the Games.After a two-year process, in which the ICC worked closely with LA28, the list of sports to be added in LA included cricket, which will now be put forward for approval to the IOC.LA28’s additional sports proposal will be reviewed and put forward by the IOC Executive Board for ratification at the 141st IOC Session in Mumbai on October 16. Satwik-Chirag conquers number 1 spot in BWF Doubles ranking
Shanghai, Oct 10: India’s top men’s doubles pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty jumped up two spots to achieve their best-ever career-high rank of World No. 1 in the latest BWF World Rankings on Tuesday.The Indian duo sealed the top spot in the rankings after securing gold in the Men’s Doubles in the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou.They are the first Indian duo and fourth national athletes after legendary Prakash Padukone, Saina Nehwal, and Kidambi Srikanth to achieve this feat.Satwik-Chirag beat South Korea’s Choi Solgyu and Kim Wonho in straight games, 21-18, 21-16 to win India’s first-ever badminton gold in the Asian Games. Mumbai, Oct 10: Pawan Sehrawat emerged as the most expensive buy on Day 1 of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) Season 10 Player Auction, here.Meanwhile, Mohammadreza Shadloui Chiyaneh emerged as the most expensive foreign player at the Pro Kabaddi League Player Auction, being bought for a whopping INR 2.35 crore by Puneri Paltan.This Player Auction also witnessed a jump in the 1 crore club from four players in the last Player Auction to five players. Pawan Sehrawat, Mohammadreza Shadloui Chiyaneh, Maninder Singh, Fazel Atrachali, and Siddharth Desai were part of the 1 crore club in today’s Player Auction.A total of 23 players were sold to the 12 franchise teams with as many as 6 Final Bid Match (FBM) cards being used on Day 1. Maccabi-Valencia Euro League game moved to Valencia
Jerusalem, Oct 10: The upcoming third-round EuroLeague contest between Israeli basketball champion Maccabi Tel Aviv and Spanish side Valencia Basket, initially set for Oct. 18, has been moved from Tel Aviv to Valencia, announced the EuroLeague on Monday.According to the EuroLeague decision, the second game between the two teams in Round 32, scheduled for March 28, will take place in Tel Aviv instead of Valencia.A previous directive from the EuroLeague postponed Maccabi’s away game against Armani Milano in Italy, with a new date still pending.Furthermore, the EuroLeague decided to transfer Hapoel Tel Aviv’s home game to Venice, Italy.
