Programme fosters awareness on cleanliness and nutrition

NONGPOH, Oct 11: In an innovative endeavour aimed at fostering awareness about the paramount importance of cleanliness and nutrition, the Central Bureau of Communication, operating under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of the Government of India, has organised a distinctive exhibition and outreach programme here on Wednesday.
This initiative, titled ‘Swachh Bharat and Poshan Abhiyan,’ was designed to underscore the critical significance of maintaining a pristine environment and ensuring proper nourishment for the holistic health and well-being of children from 0-6 years, adolescent girls, pregnant women and lactating mothers.
The inauguration of the three-day event took place at the Alpha English Higher Secondary School in Nongpoh and was graced by the presence of Manish Kumar Singh, Assistant Commissioner of Ri-Bhoi. The event garnered significant interest from students and officials representing various departments within the district.
The occasion was further dignified by the presence of Additional Director General of the Zonal Central Bureau of Communication, Guwahati, Jane Namchu, who was the distinguished chief guest.
Notable guests and dignitaries in attendance included Gopajit Das, Head of the Office of the Central Bureau of Communication, Shillong; Biangbok Basaiawmoit, a representative from Umling C&RD Block; D Shylla, a nutritionist from the DPO Office; WK Blah, the Principal of Alpha English Higher Secondary School, Nongpoh, and various others.
This initiative by the Central Bureau of Communication highlights the vital roles of cleanliness and proper nutrition in ensuring a healthier and more prosperous life for children and women.
In a separate development, the Central Bureau of Communication recognised the exemplary achievements of Madhav Singh, a teacher at Alpha English Higher Secondary School, who recently received the Teachers’ National Award on Teacher’s Day from the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, in New Delhi.
