NONGPOH, Oct 12: The Horticulture department of Ri-Bhoi, in collaboration with the Directorate of Food Processing Meghalaya, recognised the accomplishments of 183 trainees hailing from Ri-Bhoi district. These individuals have successfully completed an intensive 1-month training programme focused on pickle processing. The valedictory ceremony was held on Thursday at the Conference Hall of the District Horticulture Officer in Ri-Bhoi.
The endeavour received financial backing from the Meghalaya State Skill Development Society (MSSDS), Meghalaya, with the overarching aim of augmenting the skill development of those engaged in the art of pickle processing. The training program prioritized areas such as quality control, packaging, marketing, and branding, all with the ultimate goal of elevating the quality and branding of pickle products, a culinary mainstay in Indian households.
In addition to enhancing the quality and branding of pickles, this initiative is also expected to foster employment opportunities for women, thus promoting self-reliance. As part of the proceedings, certificates of completion were also conferred upon the participants.
