State all set to host Int’l Tourism Mart

SHILLONG, Oct 12: The state is all set to play host of the 11th edition of the International Tourism Mart (ITM) from November 21 to 23.
Informing this on Thursday, Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh said that this is a landmark event as it will be for the first time that Shillong will be hosting the ITM. He said during the event, the state will be showcasing its art, handicrafts of the state, and nominate tour operators, home stay owners as sellers for the B2B meetings.
“International participation from various countries will be introduced to our crafts, tourist spots, activities. Tour operator’s hoteliers all stakeholders will be a part of this and since it is going to be a international mart we will be able to showcase Meghalaya as tourist hub at the international level,” said Lyngdoh.
He added, “During the ITM, we expect the participation of all the States of the North East and the occasion will be hopefully graced by Union Minister of Tourism GK Reddy”.
He also informed that the event will be held in Ri-Bhoi and will not affect the traffic here in city.
