Tennis players Aakruti-Sohini clinch U-16 girls doubles title
NEW DELHI, Oct 13: Maharashtra’s Aakruti Narayan and Odisha’s Sohini Mohanty combined well to lift the U-16 girls doubles title at the Fenesta Open National Tennis Championship, here on Friday.The winners got the better of Nainika Bendram and Ishi Mahewari 6-4 6-4 in the title clash.In the boys doubles U-16 final, the duo of Vraj Gohil of Gujarat and Maharashtra’s Samarth Sahita overcame the challenge of Kabir Chothani (Gujarat) and Arnav Yadav (Uttrakhand) 7-5 6-2 to emerge winners. Belgium Grand Prix to stay
on F1 calendar
mumbai, Oct 12: The Belgian Grand Prix at the iconic Spa-Francorchamps track will remain on the Formula 1 calendar until 2025 following a one-year extension.It’s one of the seven circuits from the inaugural world championship in 1950. The 7-kilometer (4.3-mile) circuit nestled in the Ardennes forest is also F1’s longest and has hosted 56 Grands Prix.”Spa is synonymous with Formula 1 having been one of the circuits in our first ever season and is much-loved by fans and drivers alike, so I am delighted to extend our relationship with them until 2025,” Stefano Domenicali, president and CEO of Formula 1, said on Friday. NEW YORK, Oct 12: Olympic Indian senior women’s team is leaving for Saudi Arabia on Saturday for a training-cum-exposure tour ahead of the AFC Women’s Olympics Qualifiers to be played in Uzbekistan later this month.The team, who will play a few friendly matches in Saudi Arabia, will leave for Uzbekistan on October 23. UEFA postpones Kosovo-Israel Euro 2024 qualifier
Jerusalem, Oct 13: Sanju Sunday’s Euro 2024 qualifier between Kosovo and Israel has been postponed due to the security situation in Israel, the Israel Football Association (IFA) said in a statement on Thursday.The IFA cited UEFA’s decision, which said that the Group I contest in Kosovo’s Pristina on Matchday 8 was postponed as the Israeli authorities currently do not allow their national team to travel abroad.Earlier in the week, UEFA rescheduled Israel’s home match against Switzerland on Matchday 7, originally planned for Thursday, to November 15. The venue for the match has not been confirmed yet.The dates and venues for Israel’s last two matches in the 6-team group currently remain unchanged. (IANS)
