SHILLONG, Oct 15: In keeping with the yearly tradition, the ‘Pre-Durga Puja and Deepawali Get-together for Harmony 2023’ was on Sunday organised by South Shillong MLA, Sanbor Shullai, who is also the Chairman of Monitoring Cum Implementation Committee of South Shillong constituency, in a bid to foster bonhomie and peace ahead of puja.
At the gathering, the MLA extended financial assistance of Rs 7.5 lakh to 27 puja committees falling under the constituency sanctioned under SUWP scheme for the year 2023-24 so as to enable them to celebrate Durga Puja and Deepawali at their own respective areas.
The MLA appealed to all beneficiaries to involve underprivileged children in celebrations. Shullai also announced that like the committee will also organise the annual ‘Pre-Christmas Get-together of Harmony’ and distribution of financial assistance to all Christian church committees under South Shillong in the first week of December.
