SHILLONG, Oct 16: The mid-day meal cooks cum helpers have threatened to abstain from their duties from next month if their honorarium, which has been pending for three months, is not released.
The workers claimed that the government failed to honour its promise by delaying their honorarium for the months from July to September.
“We will stage a mass protest and abstain from our duties. The schoolchildren will be the worst affected if we abstain from our duties,” they warned.
