Shillong, Oct 19: In a proud moment for the state, 45 talented athletes from Meghalaya are all set to compete in the prestigious National Games scheduled to be held in Goa from October 25 to November 9, 2023.
The Meghalaya State Olympic Association, in collaboration with the Department of Sports & Youth Affairs, Government of Meghalaya, is gearing up to give these athletes a grand send-off.
The “Sent Off” program, a prelude to the upcoming sporting extravaganza, is slated to take place on October 20, 2023, at 4 p.m.
The event will unfold at the State Convention Hall No. 3 and will witness the honorable presence of Shakliar Warjri, Minister of Sports & Youth Affairs, who will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest.This year’s National Games are expected to be a showcase of India’s top sporting talent, and Meghalaya is keen to make its mark on the national stage. The state’s athletes have been diligently preparing for various disciplines, ranging from athletics to Kayaking, and are set to give their best during the competition.
The Sent Off program will not only be an opportunity for the athletes to receive blessings and encouragement but also an occasion for the state to celebrate its sportsmanship and competitive spirit. The event promises to be a moment of pride and unity for Meghalaya as it rallies behind its representatives, who are ready to shine on the national platform in Goa.The 37th National Games of India, also known as Goa 2023, is scheduled to be held from October 25 to November 9, 2023, in the state of Goa. This will be the first time Goa will host the National Games.
The National Games are a multi-sport event held every four years in India. The event is open to athletes from all Indian states and union territories. The National Games are considered to be the second most important sporting event in India, after the Olympics.The 37th National Games will feature a record number of 43 sports disciplines.
