KHADC ready to digitise land records under DILRMP scheme

SHILLONG, Oct 19: KHADC Executive Member in-charge Land, Teibor Pathaw said that the Council is ready to implement the Digital India Land Record Modernization Programme (DILRMP) scheme since the customary practices of issuing land documents have been codified by the enactment of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District (Regulation and Administration of Land) Act 2021.
Speaking at the meeting convened by the Department of Land Resources, Ministry of Rural Development, to discuss the submission of the proposal of DILRMP scheme held in Delhi on Thursday, Pathaw also spoke on the recent direction from the High Court of Meghalaya for the digitisation of land records and linking with the civil courts for adjudication of several land litigations.
This meeting is a follow-up to the workshop held on May 3 and 4 this year on Customary and Indigenous Laws, Current Practices, and new initiatives for the Autonomous District Councils of the North East.
Subsequently, after thorough preparation and as directed by the ministry official in consultation with the Directorate of Land Records, Shillong, the final proposal was submitted to the government through the District Council Affairs department, which accordingly forwarded the same to the Planning department for approval.
