Shillong, October 24: Congress is adopting a strategy similar to its successful moves in Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh in Rajasthan, with Priyanka Gandhi leading the way. She is set to preside over the third Congress meeting in the state on Wednesday.
As per IANS, ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in Rajasthan, Priyanka Gandhi’s role within the Congress has undergone a significant shift.
This time, Priyanka is being granted more opportunities to engage with the public compared to her brother Rahul. She will be conducting her third meeting on Wednesday as part of the new strategy, aiming to replicate the Karnataka-Himachal experiment in Rajasthan.
Priyanka had previously addressed public gatherings in Niwai (Tonk) on September 10 and in Sikrai (Dausa) on October 20. Her next engagement will involve unveiling the statue of former Union Minister Shishram Ola at Aradavata (Jhunjhunu) on October 25.
This change in her role is attributed to her significant contributions in states where Congress successfully claimed power from the BJP in the past year, namely Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka.
In Himachal Pradesh, Rahul Gandhi’s schedule was occupied with the Bharat Jodo Yatra, and as a result, the entire campaign was overseen by Priyanka Gandhi. Similarly, in Karnataka, she emerged as one of Congress’s primary star campaigners.
Party leaders have expressed that there is a growing demand for Priyanka to address constituents from various constituencies in Rajasthan. They aim to organize as many meetings as possible featuring her.
“People take her words and promises seriously. The commitments she made to the people of Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh were promptly fulfilled after the formation of the government. This has bolstered her reputation, and the general public feels a direct connection with her,” said Congress sources.
As the party finalizes candidates for all seats, a comprehensive program at the party level will be put in place to facilitate Priyanka’s campaign meetings throughout the state.
