SHILLONG, Oct 25: The second phase of the Shillong Technology Park in New Shillong Township, which is now under construction, is expected to be operational by the end of 2024.
The Park will have about 3,000 seats after the second phase is finished, in addition to the 1,500 chairs that are now there, according to IT Department officials.
“Two three companies are in the pipeline to operate from here,” the officials said.
The building that is being proposed for the Shillong Technology Park campus in Umsawli would adhere to the design, engineering, procurement, and construction paradigm. The second phase of construction is expected to cost approximately Rs 115 crores.
About Rs 77 crore would be needed for the IT Park’s interior and civil construction, and another Rs 16.85 crore would be needed for the electrical work.
The newly proposed park would have a built-up area of 15,000 square metres, providing parking space for 138 vehicles.
Inaugurated last year, the initial phase of the Shillong Technology Park catered to Meghalayan IT experts employed worldwide. A few IT companies operate from the park at present.
