Tura, Oct 25: In a remarkable display of sportsmanship and talent, the District Sports Office, in partnership with the District Administration and District Football Association, West Garo Hills, successfully organized the Junior Inter Mahari Football Tournament 2023.
This exciting event, exclusively catering to the Under-17 boys and girls of West Garo Hills, unfolded at the prestigious GBHSS Football Turf in Chandmari.
The much-anticipated tournament commenced on October 23rd, with a total of 13 junior Mahari teams gracing the turf. Among them, 11 fierce U-17 boys teams and only 2 formidable U-17 girls teams demonstrated their prowess on the field.
The tournament, a celebration of the region’s youthful football talent, has already captured the hearts of the community.
As the action-packed tournament unfolded, young athletes displayed their incredible skills, teamwork, and determination.
With the final showdown scheduled for Friday, October 27, at the GBHSS football turf, marked the crucial semi-final rounds. Spectators eagerly gathered to witness the battle for supremacy in the heart of West Garo Hills.
In first semi-final, the Tegite boys’ team faced off against the Nengminja boys’ team.
In a fiercely contested match, the Nengminja U-17 boys Mahari team emerged victorious, securing a two-goal lead against the Tegite U-17 boys team, who remained goalless throughout the game.The journey of the tournament has been nothing short of exceptional, fostering a sense of unity and promoting sportsmanship among the young athletes and spectators alike.
As anticipation mounts for the final clash on Friday, the Junior Inter Mahari Football Tournament 2023 continues to shine as a beacon of youth football talent in West Garo Hills.
This competition not only uncovers emerging talents but also offers them the appropriate exposure and valuable experience.
