Safety assessment of government buildings in Meghalaya on card

Shillong, Oct 26: Meghalaya Revenue and Disaster Management department has asked its team to carry out safety assessment of  Government buildings.

The direction came after a devastating fire  that destroyed a whole building in Police Bazar area. Even a government  office in the city  recently was engulfed in a fire.

Speaking to media persons here on Thursday,  Revenue and Disaster Management  Kyrmen Shylla said that the matter was discussed in the Cabinet meeting and  all the concerned departments have shared their requirements    on what is needed be done

Stating that the department from time to time conducts  mock drills, he said the department has given directions to  its team to conduct safety  assessment in government buildings
