Shillong, October 26: The Uttar Pradesh government is set to commence the restoration and conservation of significant historical and religious sites, with a focus on the sage Valmiki Ashram in Bithoor, Kanpur, believed to be the birthplace of Lord Ram’s sons, Lav and Kush.

As per IANS, for the restoration of the Valmiki Ashram, the government has allocated Rs 1.52 crore, and the project will be awarded through e-tendering. Interested agencies vying for the project will be required to deposit Rs 3.12 lakh.

The state’s archaeology department has also selected other sites for restoration, including Raja Sitaram Mahal in Mathura and Rasik Bihari Temple in Shivrajpur, Fatehpur.

The estimated cost for the renovation of Raja Sitaram Mahal in Mathura is Rs 1.29 crore, with an earnest money deposit (EMD) of Rs 2.66 lakhs.

Similarly, the restoration and preservation of Rasik Bihari Temple in Shivrajpur are expected to cost Rs 1.97 crore, with an EMD of Rs 4.04 lakhs.

All three projects will be carried out by the selected agencies under the supervision of the archaeology department.

The tendering process for these sites is being conducted in two phases, beginning with a technical assessment followed by a financial assessment. Agencies will be awarded the work only after successfully passing both assessments.

Applications for these tenders started on October 23, and the submission deadline is November 1. The technical assessment phase is scheduled to commence on November 3.

Notably, agencies applying for these projects are required to provide quotations for both the technical and financial assessments in their initial application.

Once the assessment process is complete, the selected agencies will be entrusted with the projects and will have 120 days to carry out the assigned work.
