Shillong, October 27: Following the tragic suicide of Sushant Singh Rajput on June 14, 2020, his girlfriend, Rhea Chakraborty, faced a barrage of criticism, vicious media coverage, and online trolling.
She spent 28 days in Byculla jail on charges related to procuring drugs for the late actor. Now, Rhea is gradually returning to a semblance of normal life, and she recently shared her experiences during her time in jail.
As per India Today, speaking at an event and posting a video on her Instagram account, Rhea Chakraborty described her incarceration as a “frustrating time” and referred to it as the “worst hell.” She recounted how being in jail stripped her of the identity she had outside and emphasized that everyone in an under-trial prison is considered innocent until proven guilty.
Reflecting on her interactions with fellow women inmates, Rhea spoke of the love and resilience she witnessed among them. She found that these women derived happiness from simple things and embraced moments of joy when they came. Despite their challenging circumstances, they knew how to appreciate small pleasures, whether it was enjoying a samosa on a Sunday or someone dancing for them. Rhea underscored the importance of perspective in finding happiness.
While acknowledging the difficulties she faced during her jail term, Rhea emphasized that one’s perception of heaven or hell is ultimately a choice within one’s mind. She noted that choosing a positive outlook is not always easy but emphasized that the real battle takes place in the mind, and with strength and determination, it’s possible to overcome mental challenges.
