SHILLONG, Oct 27: Special Cell East Khasi Hills arrested another four extortionists including a woman from Palace Hotel, at Motphran here, on Friday.
Several counterfoils and a receipt book ‘Ki Khlur u Hynniewtrep’ were recovered from their possession.
According to an FIR, the group had demanded Rs 15000 on Thursday evening and had come to collect the amount on Friday when they were intercepted and arrested.
A case has been filed and investigation into the matter is on.
It may be mentioned that the East Khasi Hills Police on Thursday arrested four persons from Police Bazar after they were caught serving extortion notes to one of the shops.
The police, prior to the arrest, had received inputs about extortion in commercial areas of Police Bazar and lewduh. The Special Cell of East Khasi Hills Police then laid a trap, which led to the arrest.
Superintendent of Police (City), Vivek Syiem said that in this regard, a suo motu case has been registered at Sadar Police Station for extortion against the four arrested persons.
